Nico “The Hülk” Hülkenberg has been picked up for the Sauber Team next year, presumably as the replacement to Sergio Perez who is driving for McLaren next season. This is good news for Heikki Kovalainen, as the current Caterham driver has been possibly attached to the Force India team.
And of course, this meant I had to add some more possibilities into the driver speculation chart. Again, there hasn’t been any word yet which team Jaime Alguersuari will be driving at, but the possible teams spoken of have been worrisomely the same ones Heikki is negotiating with. One sad possibility is that both Heikki and Jaime may be driving for Sauber next year, which would mean that the team is bidding “sayonara” to Kamui Kobayashi, whose contract with the team has not been renewed (despite him being 11th in the standings with a podium finish under his belt).
Of course, it’s also possible that Force India will be rehiring Adrian Sutil who was let go at the end of last season due to problems in his personal life. Of course, I welcome Sutil returning to the track (the man is a talented driver) but I just wish it wouldn’t happen at Heikki’s expense
