Formula E Quickie: Daniel Abt absolved in team order situation
Apparently in last Saturday’s Formula E race, it was Lucas Di Grassi rather than Daniel Abt who ignored team orders. Daniel Abt, son of the owner of Abt-Schaeffler racing was ahead of Di Grassi in second was told to let Di Grassi (the championship leader) past on the final lap. However, Di Grassi deliberately didn’t overtake Abt when the driver tried to leave adequate space. Di Grassi was later quoted as having said he’d rather lose the title than resort to team orders.
I have to give huge credit to Di Grassi for the ballsy move which allowed Sebastien Buemi to come within one point of him in the championship. The season ending London double race will be held in early July.
