Sixth Resident Evil movie Confirmed
I can finally let out a sigh relief. This week, Paul W.S. Anderson’s Pompeii will hit theatres in my country and the director-screenwriter-producer recently announced at a Beijing event that he is starting work on the sixth Resident Evil film, tentatively titled Resident Evil: Rising. My sincerest wish for the series would be for it to finally reach some sort of conclusion. Even though Retribution was a step in the right direction from the series, it’s been clear for a while that the RE film series has been waving in the wind since the third instalment, Extinction. From where I stand, the pressure is really on the sixth movie to make the story-arc which started with Resident Evil: Afterlife worth while.
The only detail currently out is that Li Bingbing who played Ada Wong in the previous movie is making a return for the sequel, which is good news – but I’m a little worried if this means that Anderson is abandoning the rest of the support cast, especially Ali Larter and Wentworth Miller who played Claire and Chris Redfield in the prior instalments. I at least hope that Shawn Roberts is still in to play Albert Wesker, since his character got a lot more interesting in Retribution. However, the fact that Anderson is only now starting work on the script means that the film may not be out until 2015, so there’s still a bit of a wait here.
